Marine Conservation — Sharks, Whales & Penguins

Based in Table View on the Atlantic coastline near Cape Town, this marine research program monitors shark, whale, dolphin, penguin, and seal populations in the rich waters of the Cape. Volunteers conduct boat-based surveys, collect data for ongoing research projects, and support conservation of South Africa's extraordinary ocean wildlife. Fee includes shared lodging at the Marine Volunteer Center in Gansbaai, daily breakfast and self-prepared lunch using supplied groceries, airport pickup in Cape Town, daily transport to your placement, in-country orientation, and 24/7 emergency support.
